Choosing a Garden Parasol
A garden parasol is the ultimate garden furniture accessory as it provides many benefits such as protecting you, your family and your guests from harmful UV rays, and creating a cool shady area on a hot day.
However, there are many types of garden parasol available and therefore knowing which to purchase for your garden can be tricky. This parasol guide will allow you to make an informed decision on your purchase.
Type of Parasol
There are many parasols on offer, at White Stores we offer three main types of parasol which will really help you to narrow down your selection. Firstly, we offer a classic wood parasol that is typically used through the centre of a dining table, in conjunction with a weighted base. The second is an aluminium crank & tilt parasol that also works best through the centre of a dining table. Last but not least, is the cantilever parasol which is a standalone parasol that covers larger areas.
Type of Garden Furniture
We recommend that the type of parasol you get will depend on the type of garden furniture you have. If you have a dining set, then you are going to want a parasol that fits through the parasol hole in the centre of the dining table. Whereas, if you have a sofa set or casual dining set you are going to need a standalone parasol such as a cantilever parasol that will be able to cover this whole area.
Not only does your parasol choice depend on the type of garden furniture but it also depends on the material. Wood parasols will best match wood furniture or rattan furniture as it is a more traditional appearance. Aluminium parasols will match a bigger variety of furniture including metal, cast aluminium, rattan and fabric.
How it Works
How the parasol works may be a big decider in your parasol choice. For example, our wood parasols operate using a simple pulley system which many people enjoy. However, some people may find this system to be too basic and prefer a parasol that can be adjusted in many different ways. For example, our crank and tilt aluminium parasols are opened and closed using an easy-to-use crank handle and can be adjusted to tilt in many different ways using a quick release pin.
Additionally, our cantilever parasols have many different features which include rotating 360° and multiple tilting angles.
We recommend matching your parasol to the colour of your furniture, particularly if you have a rattan furniture set. For example, a beige parasol to complement the beige colours on brown rattan furniture or grey with grey furniture.
However, if you have wood or metal furniture or you simply want to inject a bit of colour into your garden then there are many different colours available including, green, black, plum, taupe, and more.
Whenever you purchase a parasol, we always ensure looking at the recommended weight parasol base. Parasols used in conjunction with a dining table will require less weight than stand alone parasols.
Additionally, it is worth ensuring that your parasol pole will fit your base. All of our parasols have universal sized poles and will fit most parasol bases. Plus, many our bases come with adjustable inserts to ensure that your parasol pole will fit.
If you are looking for parasols for commercial use in pubs, restaurants, schools, golf courses or other areas then we are very happy to supply large quantities of parasols. For pubs and restaurants, we would recommend wood parasols as they are traditional and easy to operate. For golf courses, spas, gyms and other leisure activities we would recommend aluminium parasols as they are easy to use and look much more modern and stylish.
