Unfortunately, the Great British weather isn’t known for being consistent, and sometimes it doesn’t deliver. For those of us eager to use our gardens and enjoy our garden furniture, we’re often found patiently waiting. However, there are plenty of things you can do with your rattan garden furniture whilst the weather is bad.

Thanks to the weatherproof nature of rattan garden furniture, leaving your furniture outdoors, even in the harsh weather, is perfectly fine. Synthetic rattan and powder coated frames are used to make sure that the rattan garden furniture is not only of a high quality but rustproof. It can be left outside all year round, in rain and snow as well as the pleasant weather of course.

However, that doesn’t resolve the fact of not being able to enjoy the furniture whilst you wait for the good weather to arrive. So, here are our five suggestions of what you can do with your rattan garden furniture whilst you wait for the sun.

Conservatory Furniture

If you have a conservatory, then you can bring your rattan furniture indoors. A rattan sofa set, or bistro set is ideal for being used in a conservatory. The lightweight furniture is easy to move in and out and therefore is the perfect solution for being able to use smaller furniture items until the sun comes out.

Create A Summerhouse

If you already have a summerhouse, then add your furniture to it and create a comfortable place to sit. Or, if you have a shed that you are not making the most of you can turn it into a summerhouse and create a wonderful indoor place to sit, even when it’s raining.

A summerhouse can be a perfect place to create, design, or simply read an enjoyable book. So, if you have dead space that is not being used, this can not only be a great solution for your garden furniture but also create an extra enjoyable space for all year round.

Purchase A Pergola

Our range of pergolas will provide your patio with shelter all year round, so you can continue to enjoy your rattan furniture. Their louvred roofs and U-shaped drainage system will prevent you and your guests from getting wet, and the Titan and Halo feature an award-winning double-louvre design which will stop water from dripping through even when it’s raining!

Having the option of a privacy screen can also help protect you and your furniture from the elements. With our pergolas, if you have the set-up, you can use your garden and furniture whenever you like.

A Parasol Can Help

While it won’t give you complete coverage, a parasol extends the use of your furniture. Whether it’s a dining or corner sofa set, our parasols will help keep you dry in wetter weather. Not only are our parasols weatherproof and built to withstand the wind and rain, but they come in different shapes and sizes offering you plenty of options.

Larger parasols with thicker canopies are best at keeping you dry, thanks to their larger surface area and higher water absorption, with premium parasols from our cantilever range suiting best.

Clean & Prepare for Summer

If you don’t have space to bring your furniture indoors or to create another indoor space in your garden, then the best thing to do with your furniture in this in-between stage is to clean and prepare it for summer.

Rattan garden furniture needs minimal maintenance and cleaning so a quick jet wash or hose down will clean the furniture quickly. Or, if you want to be more thorough, a scrub with a soft bristle brush and soapy water will get between the rattan strands. Leave to dry and once dry we recommend covering the furniture with a weatherproof cover. This will protect the furniture from any leaves, bird droppings or sap from trees and allow you to use the furniture as soon as the weather improves.

If your garden is ready for summer and you’re looking for garden furniture, then we recommend a visit to one of our showrooms where you can view and test the furniture for yourself as well as seek advice and information from our team of sales advisors.
