As a nation, we Brits are spending more and more time outdoors, choosing not to be deterred by our less tropical climate and instead adapting our gardens to suit our desire to spend time in the fresh air.

This has seen us turn to the aid of pergolas and gazebos to offer shelter and weather protection, but what’s the difference between them, and which one is the right choice for your garden? We’ve answered all your questions below.

We recommend a rattan

dining set as it requires

little maintenance

Determine Your Dining Area

Choosing your dining area should be the first step. Eating is the outdoor activity that you are likely to spend the most time as a family doing, so make sure this space suits your needs, offers enough space for everybody, and is accessible.

Once you have chosen your dining area and have the measurements, you are able to shop around for a good quality dining set. For those with young children we recommend a rattan dining set as it requires little maintenance and is easy to clean should spills occur. For those with grown-up children, a modern aluminium dining set will always be a hit.

It is sensible to put your dining area in a place that gets some sun but not the area of the garden that gets sun all day. If you have no choice but to do this, make sure you invest in a good quality parasol to keep the family protected whilst enjoying lengthy dining periods outdoors.

Relax, Relax, Relax

Family life is busy, so every family needs somewhere to relax. Sun loungers are a great spot for a couple to relax but for the whole family, a daybed offers space for everyone. Additionally, another great relaxing spot is a hanging chair, the soothing notion of the swing makes it a lovely spot to sit and read and children will really enjoy this item too.

Quality Time or Family Fun

One-on-one time is extremely important for any couple, especially those with a young family to take care of. A great way to enjoy a date night is around a firepit curled up under blankets with a glass of wine. The flames are stunning and can be a really romantic setting.

The great thing about a firepit is that it can also be perfect for quality time as a family – toast marshmallows or enjoy a hot chocolate under the stars to create extra special memories.

These great tips are perfect for creating an outdoor space all the family can enjoy. If you need help choosing your new garden furniture, we recommend visiting one of our showrooms to view the furniture in person.
