All of us are looking for a great deal, consumers and businesses alike, everyone wants the most for their money. But are you really getting a good deal on your garden furniture if you choose to buy cheap? We’ve revealed what to look out for to ensure you aren’t getting a bad deal on cheap garden furniture.

If you’ve got a tight budget, then we recommend doing plenty of research before purchasing any garden furniture. There are plenty of bargains to be had but it is important you know what you’re looking for and whether you really are getting a good deal or whether you are buying furniture that is not adequate for the purpose.

Buy Cheap, Buy Twice?

The cheapest form of garden furniture you can buy are usually resin or plastic. This furniture is very durable however it can go mouldy or get dirty easily when left outside so we recommend storing this furniture away when not in use, to ensure that it lasts as long as possible. You can get plenty of styles and colours with resin furniture, so it can be a great option for those on a budget. However, the downside to plastic furniture is that it does look cheap and isn’t the most stylish.

Metal and wooden garden furniture can be incredibly expensive unless you are looking for something small. If you are on a budget this may not be very beneficial as you may have to opt for something smaller than originally planned.

We always recommend rattan garden furniture to those looking for top quality furniture on a budget. However, you must still be careful not to get pulled into a cheap trap. Some rattan furniture is not made to last and is cheaper due to the inferior materials used.

For example, steel frames are cheaper than aluminium framework, however, steel frames rust and will therefore only last 1-2 years, whereas aluminium frames can last upwards of 5 years. Additionally, PU or PVC synthetic rattan is of a much lesser quality than HDPE synthetic rattan and although they are cheaper materials they are not weatherproof like HDPE and will often crack or suffer damage after 1-2 years.

If you’ve got a tight budget,

then we recommend doing plenty

of research before purchasing.

Our Recommendations

So, these cheaper materials are not weatherproof and will not last as long, but you can make the furniture last longer if you store it indoors when not in use or suitably cover the furniture. But ultimately, this furniture may cost you more in the long run as you will have to replace the furniture every few years.

We recommend, if you can spend that little bit extra initially, purchasing a higher quality rattan garden furniture set will be more cost-effective in the long run as it is expected that this furniture, if looked after, will last for a minimum of 5 years but usually much longer.

As rattan furniture needs very little maintenance you will not have to spend money maintaining the furniture like you would need to with metal, wood or resin furniture and therefore it is a money saving option. Especially if you opt for a high-quality HDPE rattan set with powder coated aluminium framework.

Money Saving Tips

However, just because you want a longer lasting, higher quality set this does not mean you will have to spend a lot more. Some top money saving tips is to look for sales and offers online. Many garden furniture retailers run bank holiday sales or discounts in conjunction with events like Black Friday or Cyber Monday, be sure to look out for these and you may find a great deal on top quality furniture.

Another top money saving tip is to visit garden furniture showrooms and, where you can, purchase ex-display stock. Stock that is on display is usually extremely good quality but is often discounted since people have sat on the furniture and tested it.

We always recommend visiting a showroom where possible, even if it's not to bag some great ex-display stock, because this allows you to really test the quality of the furniture and ensure that you are getting your money’s worth.

All of our rattan garden furniture uses top quality HDPE synthetic rattan and powder coated aluminium framework to ensure our customers are getting great value for money and that our furniture will be durable and long-lasting.

If you are working on a budget, we recommend visiting one of our showrooms or giving us a call to get some great advice on what furniture is best for you.
