'Tis the season to transform your home into a winter wonderland, and nothing sets the festive tone like a beautifully displayed Christmas tree. Finding the right size artificial tree is key to creating a magical display that fits seamlessly into your space. In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to ensure your tree not only looks fantastic but also fits your room like a perfectly wrapped gift.

This has seen us turn to the aid of pergolas and gazebos to offer shelter and weather protection, but what’s the difference between them, and which one is the right choice for your garden? We’ve answered all your questions below.

Step 1: Choose where to put your Christmas tree

The first step in finding the ideal artificial Christmas tree is deciding where to showcase it. Popular locations include the living room, hallway, dining room, bedroom, and even offices.
If many people are going to see the artificial Christmas tree, how do you want them to react when they see it? If you’re going for the WOW factor, a bigger Christmas tree will do just fine. But if it’s to compliment a cosy setting for your living room, then consider a smaller tree to twinkle away in your room without it being the main focus of the room.
Remember not to neglect the less used rooms of your home. Offices deserve Christmas trees too!

Step 2: Measure your space

Once you've pinpointed the location, it's time to measure your space. Account for any furniture, doorways, and walkways to avoid accidents or overcrowding and ensure proper clearance. The last thing you want is to have dressed your tree to perfection, for it to get knocked over. Remember to leave room for gifts for all your friends and family.
Remember that if you’re adding a topper to your tree, make sure you’ve left enough room to accommodate this. The rule of thumb is that you want at least 6 inches from the top of your tree topper to your ceiling.

So, grab yourself a measuring tape and get to know the sizes of your chosen space. You’ll want to measure the height of your ceilings, and the diameter of the area where your Christmas tree will go.

Top Tip: One thing you need to consider is the placement of electrical outlets. Make sure there is a plug socket that’s nearby to make lighting your tree hassle-free.

Step 3: Find the Perfect Christmas Tree Size

Artificial Christmas trees come in various heights and shapes, catering to different preferences and room sizes. We've created a handy guideline to help you choose the perfect size for your space:
Tree height 5 to 5.5 feet: Great for spare rooms, children's rooms, and offices.
Tree height 6 to 6.5 feet: Best for areas with low ceilings.
Tree height 7 to 7.5 feet: Ideal for rooms with standard 8- to 9-foot ceilings.
Tree height 8 to 9 feet: Perfect for spaces with high ceilings.
Tree height 10 to 14 feet: Suited for public spaces and vaulted ceilings.

Match the tree size to the measurements you gathered in step 2 to ensure a harmonious fit in your chosen location.

Step 4: Consider Other Factors

Before completing your purchase, consider these factors that may influence the overall appearance and safety of your Christmas tree.

Visibility: Place the tree as a focal point in the centre of a room or in a cosy corner for maximum impact.
Foot Traffic: Allow clearance between the tree and doorways or walkways to avoid accidents and make room for gifts.
Furniture: Decide whether to rearrange or remove furniture to accommodate the tree. If you can’t then think about choosing a slim tree to fit in the smaller space.
Natural Light: Leave space for sunlight to filter into the room, enhancing the warm and festive atmosphere. Plus, if you choose a space next to a front window, everyone can see your Christmas tree lights from outside. How festive!
Power Source: Place the tree near an electrical outlet to help prevent unsightly extension cords and reduce safety hazards around your home.
Safety: Keep the tree away from heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, and candles to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to selecting the perfect artificial Christmas tree that not only fits flawlessly into your space but also serves as the centrepiece of your festive celebrations.
